civic + arts

civic projects connect people to community.

Civic projects come in all sizes—and can range in purpose from a visitor center, to a children’s theatre, an art museum, library, park, transportation facility, street crossing, utility station, and temporary installations for large-scale festivals.

At Studio Pacifica, we bring a wealth of experience to the civic category. What each site has in common is the need to identify inclusive solutions that allow everyone to engage, enjoy, and use. In addition to identifying barriers for people with mobility issues, we place particular emphasis on wayfinding that works for all, including people who have low vision or who are blind.

Studio Pacifica can enter the process as an identified member of a civic proposal team, or at the design phase when code regulations come into play. In particular, Studio Pacifica brings a personal and professional experience to the design of performance and audience spaces.

If a project requires community outreach, our team also has experience planning for accessible meetings and moderating community discussions.
