Hunter Douglas PowerRise 2.0 with Platinum Technology remote

In my new family room, the only location for the sofa is right in front of the windows.

The sofa is a barrier to my accessing any window treatments.  No problem, I thought, I’ll just forgo any blinds or curtains.  Eventually, my family was giving me dirty looks – the sofa pulls out to be a bed – great for overnight teen friends or family. No one over the age of five wanted to sleep in a room with the neighbors peering in.  I had to admit, we needed blinds.

We found that motorized blinds or shades are commonly available (although significantly pricier than standard blinds.)  We have truly enjoyed the luxury of pointing the remote at the blinds and changing the position at will.  No more climbing over the sofa to grab a dangling pull cord (safer for babies, too!)

Now, all I have to do is remember which remote is for the blinds, for the TV, for the DVD, for the TiVo….
