This TED talk demonstrating “wearable robots” or human exoskeletons started some serious conversation at my house tonight. Is this walking or “walking”? How important is walking when that is ALL you can do – when your arms are the third and fourth legs of the stool? Or is seeing the world from that upright vantage point important in itself.
This type of adaptive technology appears to be something that at least my daughter may have available to her in the future. Will this change what it means to have a spinal cord injury in the future?
